CourseGraphic Hollywood’s interpretation of the Little Bighorn battle has evolved over the years, reflecting changes in attitudes toward Native Americans, westward expansion, and the legends of its participants. Through the use of popular movie clips, this course will examine how Hollywood has presented the battle over time and how these presentations mirrored changes in the public’s perception and the writing of American history. Particular attention will be paid to Hollywood’s treatment of the battle’s most famous combatant, George Armstrong Custer.
