This series will begin with some of the most well-known and most treasured art related to this period in history, much of it considered iconic, though not necessarily contemporary to the events of the American Revolution. Some of the most famous paintings about the revolution were not done during the time of the upheaval but well after the fact. The artists themselves were not as well known, but we all know The Spirit of 1776, Washington Crossing the Delaware, and Washington at Valley Forge.
